The Birmingham Botanical Gardens & Glasshouses
The Birmingham Botanical Gardens & Glasshouses, located in the lovely suburb of Edgbaston are a 15-acre oasis of pleasure.

The gardens were created by top garden planner of the time J.C. Loudon and opened to readers in 1832. Nowadays, visitors can enjoy nature at its finest and discover the value of plants.

Woodbrooke Quaker Study Centre
A hidden gem, Woodbrooke has Birmingham's biggest organically-managed backyard, comprising of ten acres of gardens, woodland, a Victorian Walled Garden and even a boating lake!

Woodbrooke is Chocolatier and Quaker George Cadbury's former house, close to historical Bournville. The woodland past the lake was designated a Site of Importance for Nature Conservation (SINC). The lawns around the house comprise specimen trees, some of which return to the initial planting of the garden. The arboretum has a collection of exotic trees and the walled garden supplies herbs, vegetables, fruit and flowers for cutting. Project of the Year - Royal Conservatoire Birmingham, part of Birmingham City University The highly acclaimed Project of the Year title is introduced to the scheme which shows overall outstanding best practice and an exemplary commitment to adding value to its neighborhood area.

The Royal Birmingham Conservatoire is the newest purpose-built music college and is the first digital conservatoire of the 21st Century. Covering roughly 10,500m2 of lecture and teaching distance the conservatoire also boasts 100 rehearsal rooms, a brand new 500 seat concert hall, romantic 150 seat recital hall, and Birmingham's only dedicated jazz club and an organ performance space.

Judges commended Faithful+Gould, Feilden Clegg Bradley, Galliford Try and Birmingham City University for delivering this'world class' centre with national and worldwide appeal which will attract additional investment into the City. This grand project, which has also received the Royal seal of approval, had stiff competition from other entrances but in many ways stood'head and shoulders' above other entrances.
