The improvement of Birmingham rail services

A Dutch and Japanese consortium has won the battle to conduct key Birmingham rail services such as the Cross City Line before 2026.

West Midlands Train Ltd, a consortium of Abellio, East Japan Railway Business and Mitsuii & Co Ltd, has vowed 1 billion investment in services throughout the region in its own bid.

Key elements of this bid include free wi-fi on all services, 20,000 additional Chairs for rush hour passengers in Birmingham and 100 new carriages within a protracted Cross City Line.
